It is important for all to check the CDL Requirements of each state, as all states feature different and somewhat unique requirements. Alaska CDL requirements state that individuals must be 19 years of age to obtain a commercial driver’s license. Those who are planning on truck driving outside of the state, driving hazardous materials, or driving double trailer rigs must be 21 years of age.

As in many states, Alaska licensing information requires that individuals hold a current and valid driver’s license from the state of Alaska. Applicants are required to present a valid medical card. Those who pass the written test (occasionally referred to as a ‘knowledge test’) will then be expected to go through the skills test. This driving test follows, and is followed up with the final vision test. Only those that pass all three will be given the license.

Individuals who are out of state during the renewal time are able to file for a 30-day extension. Licenses must be renewed every 5 years, and those who fail to do so may be subject to retesting.
