You will need a commercial driver's license (CDL) in order to become a trucker in NC. The laundry list of North Carolina CDL requirements can be daunting to those who have not worked to understand what is expected of them during the application process. These various pieces of North Carolina licensing information will help you to be prepared as you apply for your commercial driver’s license.

Those who are applying in the state of North Carolina will need to prove that they are a resident in the state. They will also need to be able to prove both identity and age, and will need to provide proof of social security identification.

Applicants must also prove that they have a clean driving record, that they hold liability insurance, and that they are physically healthy (through a physical examination report).

North Carolina re-licensing information shows that individuals must renew every four years, and that those with Hazmat clearances must renew that clearance every 5 years. Individuals who allow their license to expire for over one year will need to re-test to receive their license.
