Benefits of a Trucking Career

You can find local routes to keep you close to home or routes that allow you to see all of what the country has to offer.

Important Laws and Regulations

There are no specific laws regulating snow tires or chains. However, if there is a skid risk, you are advised to have them on your truck. When you go into other states, you will be required to abide by their laws and many of the surrounding states mandate that you have them on in the winter months.

You must be at least 21 to drive goods across the state lines. This is federal law and is highly enforced. Additional federal law is DOT record keeping, which must be submitted monthly. These laws state how many hours you can drive behind the wheel without stopping (11 hours) and how many hours total you can work in 7 days (60 hours).

Other Minnesota laws to be aware of include points on your license for traffic violation, which can lead to license suspension or revocation. If you drive in the City of St. Cloud, you are also required to follow anti-idling laws, which states you cannot leave your truck running for more than five minutes at a time.
