Montana Owner Operator Jobs
As an owner operator in Montana, you no doubt enjoy plenty of scenic views of Big Sky Country as you earn your living on the road. Life as a self-employed truck driver in Montana can be great, but if you are like many other owner operators today, you may feel the rising cost of job-related expenses is eating into your profits. By taking a few steps today, you may be able to keep more of your hard-earned money in your pocket.
For most owner operators, the largest expenses associated with their job relate to their rig. You may have a monthly loan payment, an auto insurance payment, gas and maintenance expenses and more that you are paying for on a regular basis. Each of these expenses is tied to the rig itself, so you may consider the benefits associated with trading in your current rig. You can talk to your insurance company about makes and models that may be more affordable to insure. After getting a list of a rigs that are affordable to insure, you can research the fuel economy they get on the road.
In addition, keep in mind the benefits of owning a rig with a cab. While you may want to stay in a motel or hotel a few times while on the road, you can save money by sleeping in your own cab. These rigs cost more to buy, however. So if you currently own or plan to buy a rig with a cab, ensure that you will be using the cab often enough to make the investment worthwhile for you.
If your research reveals that your current rig is still a great option to continue owning and driving, you may consider the benefits associated with refinancing your rig loan. Refinancing your rig loan may allow you to take cash out of your rig, to lower your monthly payment or both. If you take cash out of your rig by refinancing, you can use this money to reduce other debts, such as high interest credit card balances. Keep in mind that the interest on your rig loan may be tax deductible while credit card interest generally is not.
By reviewing these factors today and making a few strategic changes, you may be able to improve your financial situation and lower your monthly expenses.
