FAQ:

Q: How is RTI’s Lease Purchase Program different from what other companies are offering?

A: RTI can offer Lease Purchase drivers the choice between both a fixed rate lease and a variable rate lease.  Most trucking companies that offer lease purchase programs only offer fixed rate leases where drivers are charged a flat weekly truck payment that they are required to pay for the entire length of the lease. Leasing a truck under these terms creates an environment where drivers can easily go into debt if they do not get enough miles or make enough money in a week to cover all of their weekly expenses such as their truck payment, fuel, insurances, taxes, etc.  Because of this, it can become easy for drivers to default on their lease if they are not able to climb their way back out of debt because they had multiple weeks of low miles.

Riverside Transport realizes that this is problematic for lease purchase drivers so to alleviate this problem RTI has created an entirely new lease purchase program which we call a variable lease.  Drivers who elect to do a variable lease agrees to pay a per mile charge instead of a fixed weekly rate each week. With a variable lease the driver’s payment fluctuates each week based on the number of miles the driver ran that week. When drivers have bad weeks they have a low weekly payment and when drivers have a great week they have a higher weekly payment.  The variable lease that RTI offers is designed to ensure that a driver’s weekly payment is always proportional to the amount of money they made that week.  By designing the lease this way driver are given extra security that ensures that they are not paying more than what they can afford in any given week for the truck payment and other expenses.

Q: Does RTI make drivers set up an Escrow account or Maintenance account for truck repairs?

A:  No, Riverside Transports has elected to enroll drivers into a full service warranty program rather than leaving maintenance costs up to the driver.  Drivers pay RTI a fixed rate each week and everything from tires, oil changes, preventative maintenance, and all repair bills are covered and paid for by RTI under the rules of the full service maintenance agreement the drivers sign.  With most LP programs in the industry drivers are required to set up what is called a maintenance account or an escrow account that they contribute a portion of their check to weekly.  This money is saved for truck maintenance.  When the truck breaks down or repairs need to be performed on the truck the driver then dips into their escrow/maintenance account.  This money is then used to pay for the cost of repair.  The problem with having an escrow/maintenance account such as this is that drivers can easily go into debt if they do not have enough money in their escrow/maintenance account to pay for the entire repair bill.  This ends up being a big reason why leases fail.  Driver sometimes do not have the money needed to pay for truck repairs so they end up defaulting on their lease.  RTI recognizes that this is a problem so to alleviate this issue RTI has decided to offer a full service warranty agreement that covers everything on the driver’s truck.
