TA Sponsors Health Walk
TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) and Trucking Solutions Group are inviting anyone in the trucking industry to their Health Awareness Walk, sponsored by TA and Petro Stopping Centers and Trucking Solutions Group. The walk will be held at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at 9 a.m. at the Dallas Convention Center. Anyone interested in participating should meet in Room D168 at 8 a.m. the morning of the walk.
TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) and Trucking Solutions Group created the Health Awareness Walk as a fitness event for people in the trucking industry. Participation is free, and anyone who participates in the walk will receive free t-shirts and goodie bags, though supplies are limited. There will also be health information available, and giveaways for participants. Radio host Homer Hogg will also be there. Homer Hogg, as many people know him, is the well-known voice of Dave Nemo's show Maintenance Matters on the Sirius/XM channel RoadDog Trucking (found on channel 106). Hogg is a long-time master technician and senior technical maintenance trainer for TA and Petro, and plans to participate in the walk.
Organizers for the Health Awareness Walk are planning for the walk to be a fun, non-competitive 1.5-mile course. The walk is an open invitation for anyone in the trucking industry who is thinking about starting a more fit and healthy lifestyle, wants to stay healthy or is looking for workout-enhancing tips and tricks. Participants in the walk can choose to walk the entire 1.5-mile distance or only a portion if they wish, just as long as they participate and show good sportsmanship.
TA and Petro, together with Trucking Solutions Group, are known for being innovators in the trucking industry. The corporate trio has been working towards incorporating personal health help and fitness into the trucking industry, and making it easier for truckers to stay healthy and fit. TA's StayFit program, which debuted in 2010, focuses on offering healthier options on restaurant menus and healthier travel store items. The program has also instituted free fitness centers and mapped walking trails for truckers nationwide.
