For over 20 years we have been that way, and we plan to stay with owner operators.
Ameri-Co Carriers, Inc. started business in 1965 with company trucks, and in 1982 converted to 100% owner operators. Ameri-Co Carriers, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of AMCOL International. AMCOL is a specialty chemical and mineral company that produces and markets primarily liquid absorbing products for a wide range of industrial and consumer related markets. Ameri-Co not only transports AMCOL products – from cat litter to environmental liners – but also coordinates shipments for a growing number of outside customers.
Ameri-Co Carriers, Inc. operates its Flat Bed and Dry Van trailers throughout the lower 48 United States and Canada, although the majority of our destinations are in the Midwest and Southeast. Ameri-Co Carriers, Inc. is based in Scottsbluff, NE. and operates terminals in Bremen IN. and Kansas City KS. In addition to the three terminals, Ameri-Co Carriers, and its sister company, Ameri-Co Logistics, Inc. operate offices in Fairmount GA, Lovell WY, and Kansas City KS.
All of the staff at Ameri-Co have experience in the trucking industry and have the expertise to handle any problem that you may encounter. We pride ourselves in maintaining the small company feel. We know each owner operator by name, not by number. We feel that our owner operators are one of the most important parts of our company’s success. Our goal is to provide our owner operators with the best working conditions possible, and we believe that we provide one of the best compensation plans in the industry. Owner Operators at Ameri-Co can choose between mileage plan or percentage plan methods of compensation.
On the mileage plan, owner operators pulling company trailers earn $0.83 per mile, both loaded and empty miles. The rate increases to $0.89 per mile for owner operators who wish to pull their own trailer. The mileage plan includes an additional $0.01 per mile quarterly incentive plan on all dispatched miles, both loaded and empty. The company pays all approved toll roads. In addition, the company pays for Liability, Cargo, and Trailer Insurance.
On the percentage plan, owner operators pulling company trailers earn 78% of 100% of the gross revenue. By pulling their own trailer, the compensation increases to 84% of 100% of the gross revenue. Both the percentage plans are eligible for the quarterly incentive plan of $0.07 per mile on all miles over 8500 miles per month. In addition to the incentive plan, the company shares costs with the owner operators for Liability and Bobtail Insurance. The company pays trailer and Cargo insurance for those owner operators on the percentage plan.
Physical Damage, Disability, Worker Compensation, and Health Insurance are available through the company at competitive group rates. Base plates and permit costs are shared by the company on all plans.
